Toy Shower for Reconnecting Families

Reconnecing Families would like to thank Ms. Dee Allison and her friends of "The Circle" at John Knox Presbyterian Church for having a Toy Shower in honor of the Reconnecting Families participants. Ms. Allison had the great misfortune of her house catching fire and burning down. Her friends offered to throw a shower for the purpose of building her house back up, but instead Ms. Allison decided she would rather give back to the community and throw a toy shower for the participants of Reconnecting Families instead.

Representatives of Reconnecting Families attended the shower and attest to how great the experience was, and how wonderful the women are that they were able to meet. These generous ladies donated many gift cards and toys to the children of our participants, which we are sure will put a huge smile on their faces this holiday season!!

Thank you again to "The Circle" of John Knox Presbyterian Church and Ms. Dee Allison. Our community is lucky to have such wonderful supporters!

Vendor Spotlight: Fairywood Thicket

You might become a little hungry after reading about this enticing vendor, the Fairywood Thicket. The Fairywood Thicket is a small farm located in Fairburn, GA. They grow their very own vegetables, fruit, and herbs. Fresh eggs are also sold at the farm, along with fresh quail eggs! What Fairywood Thicket is best known for though is their jams and jelly. The original jelly that started it all, Elderberry Jelly, has now created a plethora of different jams and jellies available at the farm! The variety of jams, jellies, eggs, and freshly produced vegetables, fruits, and herbs available makes Fairywood Thicket irresistible to try!

Women Dining for Missions at Marietta FUMC

Thank you to the women's group who hosted the Women Dining for Missions at Marietta FUMC last Thursday at First United Methodist Church!

The purpose of the event was for nonprofit organizations to come together in order to learn about other local causes. Reconnecting Families was able to set up a table to educate people on our mission! It was a great event, and we made many connections with other organizations.

We also had the privilege to hear Trudy Cathy White, the daughter of the founder of Chic-fil-A, who gave an amazing inspirational speech about women being successful through spirituality. Thank you Trudy for attending and for such a motivational speech!

We would like to thank the lovely group of women that hosted this wonderful event as well as First United Methodist Church for providing a lot of support to the community. Without all of your support, we would not be able to effectively help our participants and their families live healthy, sober lives!

We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Vendor Spotlight: Wood You Write

To switch things up a bit, here is a vendor who doesn't make clothes, or shoes, or accessories, but rather something that is used everyday by everyone. Wood You Write is an incredible company that handcrafts pens and other little gifts! Wood You Write's pens are unique and very different from any ordinary pen you might use. Each pen is handcrafted to perfection by the owner, Tim Britt, and the products come in all kinds of colors of wood. Wood You Write also sells great other gift ideas such as toothpick holders, pill boxes, and kaleidoscopes. Without a doubt, Wood You Write is a fantastic place to pick up a gift for a friend or family member!

Thank you Bill and Cindy Wood!!

Reconnecting Families would like to thank Bill and Cindy Wood for hosting a tailgate at the Georgia v. Florida football game this past Saturday, during which contributions are collected for Reconnecting Families. It is so wonderful that we have such generous people like Bill and Cindy to support our organization. They have been hosting this tailgate for several years now, and are great friends to Reconnecting Families. Bill and Cindy are great "go-to" people when you are in need of out-of-the-box ideas for fundraising!

Thanks again Bill and Cindy! We appreciate everything you do!!

As for the game on Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs beat the Florida Gators 17-9. Hope everyone got a chance to watch and enjoy such an exciting victory!!
